YG's BIGBANG is to hold a FREE guerrilla concert in Korea.
BIGBANG’s guerrilla concert will take place in Seoul as early as next week, and there are many speculations about why they are holding a guerrilla concert.
Some are saying that BIGBANG is holding the concert to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut. BIGBANG debuted in 2006, and this year marks the 10th anniversary of their debut. As they have led the Korean Wave and K-Pop for the last ten years, it is only natural that BIGBANG celebrate their 10th anniversary by putting on a huge show.
Others are saying that this signals their comeback. BIGBANG members will need to serve in the military soon, and this year will be their last as a group. This has been confirmed by the members and their agency several times. If this year is indeed the last year of BIGBANG, they are bound to release a new album and go on a tour, and the guerrilla concert may be the beginning of all that.
As it is with all idol groups, BIGBANG cares a lot about their fans. The guerrilla concert will be a big present for the fans as it will be free and special. SECHS KIES, who was recently signed onto YG Entertainment, was able to make a grand comeback thanks to their guerrilla concert on Infinite Challenge.
An YG official said, “Holding a guerrilla concert was BIGBANG’s idea.”
In June and July, BIGBANG will hold fan meetings in eight cities, Shenyang, Foshan, Nanning, Qingdao, Harbin, Dalian, Chongqing, and Chengdu, and meet 110,000 of their Chinese fans.
In Japan, BIGBANG’s fan club tour titled “BIGBANG FANCLUB EVENT ~FANTASTIC BABYS 2016~” began on April 22. They will be holding 27 concerts in four Japanese cities until May 29. On July 29-31, BIGBANG will also hold concerts at the Yanmar Stadium Nagai in Osaka to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut. The concerts are expected to draw a total of 165,000 people.
